Changes to Disability Support Services in the Mana Whaikaha region of MidCentral
Please complete form if you are located in the MidCentral.
At this stage, no changes have been confirmed for Enabling Good Lives sites.
The Regional Leadership Groups were notified of these proposed changes on Wednesday September 3 and immediately organised the Forums to talk with our community about what the changes could mean. It is up to each community to decide.
We do not need to decide on which option we choose but we do need to give an indication, if the majority of our community wishes to choose Option 1, moving to this option is more complex for the MidCentral Region and the way we do things than it is for others.
We encourage you to attend a Forum either face to face or Via Zoom.
If you are unable to attend any of these and would like to ask questions or send more feedback please reply to this email.
Regardless of what option is chosen, if you are supported through an EGL site you can still;
- Work with a connector
- Share your story in the way that works for you
- Develop a good life plan
- Have access to a personal budget with choice and support on how to manage this
- Have a range of options for the supports and services you want to use
Changing to the new approach will mean
- The connector will ask specific questions about the support needs and wellbeing of whānau.
- The EGL teams will use a new funding tool
- You will have a new budget, based on previous spend, on 1 April 2026, with the Purchasing Rules removed
Staying with the current approach will mean
- Your budget remains the same
- The Purchasing Rules remain in place
Please talk to your Regional Leadership Group enablinggoodlivesmidcentral@gmail.com for more information. Any changes to the way EGL teams operate will be made in line with the EGL vision and principles.
