Enabling Good Lives Waitaha / Canterbury
The Enabling Good Lives approach was first developed in Christchurch to demonstrate how the principles based approach can be used to make it easier for people to live good lives of their own choosing, in communities that truly value who they are and what they have to offer.
In Christchurch, the Government has responded to the Enabling Good Lives approach in two ways:
EGL Christchurch
ORS funded school leavers and their whānau in Christchurch can work with Connectors /Kaitūhono who walk alongside them as they plan for their future.
Waitaha EGL Regional Leadership Group (WRLG)
This Group, made up of representatives from across the disability community, lead change consistent with the EGL Approach by amplifying the voice of the disability community and ensuring that whānau, hapū, iwi and families have genuine choice and control over their supports and lives.
