David Matthews
David Matthews has worked in the education and disability sectors for more than 40 years, and is Chief Executive of CCS Disability Action.
David focuses on guidance and counselling, special education programmes and services, and supporting disabled people to access the community and community development.
He has held senior leadership positions in schools, government departments and agencies.
He is passionate about social justice and encouraging social change which will bring about a more inclusive world.
David fully supports the Enabling Good Lives' principles and the thrust of the changes that have been occurring in the disability sector.
He brings a community organisation perspective to the co-design group, gained from leading CCS Disability Action, an organisation recognised for its innovative work and commitment to adding values to the lives of disabled people and their families.
David is committed to ensuring that whatever is designed will work for all disabled people and their families, especially those who struggle to have their voices heard.
He is married with three adult children, four mokopuna, and works in Wellington but spends most of his weekends at home in Christchurch.
